Apt records

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Apt Records was an American music label that, as a subsidiary of ABC Records , only released singles from 1958 to 1970. "Apt" is an abbreviation for the American Broadcasting Company and United Paramount Theaters .

The singles were pressed in the Group's own company Am-Par Records Corporation, including promotional issues for the radio stations' DJs.

The label started in the late 1950s with re-releases of white doo-wop groups such as the Elegants and Vince Castro with the Tonettes , which were re-marketed in the wake of the twist boom. Soon the genre shifted to country- influenced pop with Johnny Kidd , Lonnie Donegan , Joe South , the late Bill Haley , Ed Bruce and the Tams .
