The 90 episodes humorously tell the coexistence of the residents of house number 21 in “Calle Desengaño”, who make life difficult for each other in every possible way. The series was invented by Alberto Caballero, Iñaki Ariztimuño and Laura Caballero and produced by José Luis Moreno. Iñaki Ariztimuño, Alberto Caballero, Daniel Deorador, David Abajo, David Fernández, Ramón Tarrés, Laura Caballero, David Deorador, Laura Molpeceres and José Luis Valladolid worked as directors. The series is considered one of the highest ratings on Spanish television.

Aquí no hay quien viva also deals with controversial issues such as homosexuality, addiction, unemployment, cheating, politics, illness, aging and death, which has not least contributed to its popularity. The figures are all picaresque and show all too human characteristics. Together they go through the ups and downs of everyday life. They reflect normal life in a typical Spanish household.

The successor series La que se avecina was produced by Telecinco from April 22, 2007 .
