The Aqualand Cologne is a water park in Cologne district Chorweiler . It is operated by Kristall-Bäder AG from Stein near Nuremberg, which maintains several baths and thermal baths in Germany.

history

In 1991 the entrepreneur Georg Theune, previously CEO of a Düsseldorf insurance company, built the Aqualand water park in the west of Chorweiler. Up to 2,000 guests visited the pool every day on weekends. However, the Theune Spa Management sold the bathroom again after a short time. They lost interest because the flow of visitors here was very fluctuating and obviously could only develop its potential at the weekend. ("We didn't enjoy the fun pool"). The company subsequently expanded other pools, including the Cologne Neptunbad .

Crazy River (former)

The Crazy River slide, which has existed since the Aqualand opened, had two entrance options and two independent exit options, which ended in a common round central intermediate pool. The slide could be entered with or without a tire. In contrast to the other slides, many participants were able to enter this wide slide system one after the other, be on the system at the same time and use it independently of one another. AquaCanyon

This 103 meter long white water river stands out from ordinary slides in that it has a lower gradient, but significantly more water, the currents of which carry the slide along.

AquaRacer

The AquaRacer slide comes from Klarer and consists of two parallel tubes with a length of around 82 meters. These are used so that two participants on the slide can measure themselves against each other in terms of speed. The track has a timing system.

AquaConda

The AquaConda slide is a 150 m long X-Tube from Wiegand Waterrides , i.e. a tire slide with an oval cross-section, the curves of which are slightly inclined so that the slide rocks back and forth more strongly. This slide also has two uphill sections similar to those of a Master Blaster , in which the slide is pushed up by a powerful jet of water.

Space Typhoon

The SpaceTaifun is a funnel slide made by Aquarena . The slide is used without tires and begins as a normal tube with daylight effects, which, after a steep section to build up speed, ends in a large, flat funnel. In this the slide turns several laps before it reaches another tube in the middle of the funnel, which leads to the outlet basin. The entire slide runs outside the building, only the start and run are inside.

Red Star

The Red Star is a fast, red tube slide from Aquarena without effects that starts and ends next to the Space Typhoon and how it runs outside the building.

AquaLoop

The looping slide of Aqualand was built by Aquarena and is the first in Germany to be completely in a closed hall, as well as the second in Germany after Klarer's installation in AquaMagis Plettenberg . The slide begins with a drop flap launch, also known as a rocket launch, after the steep section to build up speed follows the inclined looping, which is directly followed by the outlet basin. At the lowest point in front of the loop there is an emergency exit hatch through which sliders who did not make the loop can be freed.

boomerang

The “Boomerang” slide is a wide, U-shaped ramp. The slide starts at the top on one side of the ramp, first slides down steeply, then up again steeply on the other side and then swings back, sliding over a wave into the spout that runs parallel to the entrance. To ensure safety and protection against injuries, this slide may only be entered with a slip tire.
