The Arbeiter-Schachzeitung was a monthly German chess magazine .

Foundation and content

The chess magazine appeared from July 1912 to 1933 and was the organ of the German Workers Chess Federation (section of the Workers Chess International). In 1925 the magazine had at least 32 pages per issue, a total of 392 pages.

In 1925 the contents were the four chapters articles and treatises , problems , games (broken down according to openings) and club news ( broken down according to locations) . In detail, it contained reports on communications from the federal board , for young people and learners , remote tournaments , mailboxes and a death board .

For example, essays were “What is going on in the Austrian Workers Chess Federation?” By Kurt Spiegel, Chairman of the Workers Chess International. In the July 1925 issue (pages 194 to 200) the article “The 1st International Workers' Olympiad in Frankfurt a. M. from July 24th to 28th ". Also topics were “To Promote Chess” by M. Krüger and “Das Vierschachspiel” by Willy Roscher. The June 1925 issue (pages 163 to 165) brought the article "Workers Chess Movement in Russia" by Kurt Spiegel.

Editor and publisher

The magazine was published by the German Workers' Chess Federation. The booklets were published by the German Workers' Chess Federation. Its seat was initially Berlin, then for a long time Chemnitz.

Essays were written by Walter Findeisen, Alfred Gläßer, Alfred Hartkopf, Karl Kaiser, Carl Oberle, Willy Roscher and Kurt Spiegel.

The end

The end of the magazine was caused in 1933 by the dissolution of the German Workers Chess Federation.
