The Worker Communist Party of Iran ( Persian حزب کمونیست کارگران ایران, API for short ) is a communist Iranian exile party that is in opposition to the current Iranian government.

Foundation and profile

The party was founded in 1991 by Mansoor Hekmat by secession from the Communist Party of Iran ; since his death in 2002 it has been run by Hamid Taghwai . In 2004, after conflicts over future party tactics , the workers-communist party of the Iran-Hekmatist under Korusch Modaresi split off. In 2007 there was another split, from which the Workers-Communist Unity Party (WUP) emerged under the leadership of Ali Javardi . The party and its splits are fighting for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran and for the establishment of a “communist republic”. They maintain a television station and a radio station.

Activities in Germany

The Workers' Communist Party of Iran and its splits are under observation by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution .

The 2011 report for the protection of the constitution assumes a total of 250 active members of the three groups, a well-known member in Germany is Mina Ahadi , the chairwoman of the Central Council of Ex-Muslims . According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, all three organizations strive for a revolution and a communist social system in Iran. The API tries “through common topics such as the documentation of the human rights situation in Iran or the demand for the abolition of the death penalty to address a wide circle of interested parties and to present itself as a noteworthy organization. In doing so, she often makes use of various surrounding organizations, such as the “Central Council of Ex-Muslims eV” (suspected case), the “International Committee against Stoning” (suspected case) and the “International Campaign to Defend Women's Rights in Iran” (suspected case). [...] Regardless of their commitment, the API has so far not been able to gain attention from the general public. "( Verfassungsschutz Report 2011 )
