Working and learning situation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The work and learning situation (ALS) is part of the new Swiss basic commercial training to become a businessman . The learner has to go through 2 work and study situations per apprenticeship year. The average of all grades is 25% for the operational part of the final apprenticeship examination.

Definition of an ALS

During the apprenticeship, the vocational trainer periodically checks the work and behavior of the apprentices in the company based on a work and learning situation (ALS). The vocational trainer selects appropriate learning objectives for the respective area from the model course and announces these to the learner in writing. The trainee now has the task of acquiring the knowledge contained in the goals . Or he has to write a smaller piece of written work that fits the goal, which is then assessed (differently depending on the performance goal). The examination of the specialist knowledge takes place on the basis of an examination interview with the trainer . Using defined assessment criteria, the trainer evaluates the specialist knowledge of the apprentice, which he should have in connection with the performance goals. The behavior of the learner is also assessed (behavioral criteria). The grades of the ALS are taken into account in the qualification procedure (formerly LAP = apprenticeship final examination).

During the three years of apprenticeship either 6 ALS with 8 performance goals and 8 behavioral criteria each or 3 ALS with 12 performance goals and 12 behavioral criteria each must be completed. The ALS replace the conventional training reports and give the trainer the opportunity to assess the knowledge of the learner on the basis of practical and standardized performance targets from the model course.
