Working group for liturgical texts
The working group for liturgical texts (ALT) was a working group of the Christian churches of the German-speaking area . Representatives of the Roman Catholic Church , the Protestant regional churches , the Old Catholics and individual free churches were involved .
In 1970/71 the working group developed the German-language ecumenical versions of the Lord's Prayer and the Apostles' Creed , which are commonly used today , as well as joint versions of the Great Creed , the Gloria in excelsis , the Sanctus , Agnus Dei and Gloria Patri . On the one hand, the translations should be adapted to today's language usage and thus become more understandable. On the other hand, a uniform version of basic liturgical texts should be used in all ecumenical churches in the German-speaking area so that they can be prayed at joint church services.
At the same time as the ALT, the working group for ecumenical songs was created .
