Working group for preventive and social medicine

The working group for preventive and social medicine , abbreviated to aks , is an association founded in 1964 by doctors from Vorarlberg with the aim of using appropriate preventive , rehabilitation and health- promoting measures to help the population achieve a longer life expectancy with a higher quality of life through appropriate programs . Financing is provided by the state of Vorarlberg, the social security agencies and the Healthy Austria Fund .

The aks led 1964 Europe's first large-area vaccination of all school children, first organized school studies , in 1968, the pregnancy check as a precursor of the parent-child pass in Austria, 1970, the health examinations for the general population and 1988 nationwide the preventive dental care program ( Max Prophylax ) a.

The operative activities have been outsourced to aks Gesundheit GmbH , Zahnprophylaxe Vorarlberg GmbH and ameco Health Professionals GmbH , all three of which are 100% owned by the association.
