Puig de sa Morisca Archaeological Park
The Archaeological Park Puig de sa Morisca ( Catalan Parc Arqueològic Puig de sa Morisca ) is located in Santa Ponça in the municipality of Calvià on the Balearic island of Mallorca . It covers an area of 45 hectares, of which 35 hectares are publicly owned and freely accessible. The park contains six archaeological sites of the Talayot culture , three of which can be visited. Ten more are within 10 km. The park has 15,000 visitors annually.

The park is located south of Santa Ponça. The entrance gate is on Carrer de Puig de na Marisca just before it joins avinguda Santa Ponça , where there is also a parking space. The archaeological park can be entered at any time. Admission is free.

Archaeological sites
The largest archaeological site ( Santa Ponça 1 ) in the park is located on the 120 m high hill Puig de Sa Morisca. The remains of an originally 2700 m² settlement are preserved here, dating from the late Bronze Age around 1200 BC. Until the annexation of the Balearic Islands by the Roman Empire in 123 BC. Was inhabited. A final settlement phase can be traced back to the early 13th century, when Mallorca was ruled by the Muslim Almohads . During the conquest of Mallorca by Jaume I of Aragón in 1229, the settlement was destroyed. You can visit the restored foundations of a talayot on the top of the hill. - the talayot of Son Miralles,
- the tumulus of Son Miralles,
- the post-talayotic sanctuary of Es Fornets.
More Attractions
In addition to the Puig de sa Morisca, the park offers other viewpoints that offer a wide view of the landscape of the municipality of Calvià and especially of Santa Ponça and the bay of Cala de Santa Ponça. Of ethnological interest are nine partially restored architectural remnants of the forest and livestock farming in the area of the last centuries, especially the huts of charcoal burners, shepherds and clearing farmers. In addition, display boards are set up at several points in the park, which give the visitor more information about the local vegetation .
Surroundings
Calvià is rich in archaeological relics. In the vicinity of the park there are other important sites such as the Naveta Alemany, a naval residential building, the burial mound of Son Ferrer, the naviform village of Son Ferrer, the hill of Ses Abelles with the remains of post-Talayotic buildings and the remains of the Roman villa of Sa.
