Ark Austria

The Arche Austria - Association for the Conservation of Rare Livestock Breeds , formerly only Association for the Conservation of Endangered Domestic Animal Breeds (VEGH) , endeavors to preserve endangered livestock breeds in cooperation with other conservation programs. About 40 breeds are looked after. Cattle, sheep, pig breeds etc. are in the maintenance program. The association has existed since 1987. Its greatest successes are the preservation of the Carinthian Spectacled Sheep , the Carinthian Blondvieh and other highly endangered breeds.
