The Archer family was a Bernese notable family , who owned the citizenship rights of the city of Bern by 1414 at the latest , belonged to the Pfistern Society and expired in 1742.

history

Simon Archer († 1458) joined the Grand Council of the City of Bern in 1414, then the Small Council and became Venner to Pfistern. In total, the Archer provided the Pfisternvenner three times, and Anton Archer was Bern's Seckelmeister . After almost all Archer had made it to the Small Council in the 15th and 16th centuries, no one made this leap after 1654. The numerically small family held increasingly insignificant offices.

In 1742 the family died out with the officer and grain keeper Hans Jakob Archer.
