biography

Archibald Campbell's brother Norman Hartley Campbell ran unsuccessfully in the 1928 and 1931 general elections in the Chalmers constituency . He was nominated for the Labor candidate in the 1935 election when he died after an operation in February 1935. The Labor Party planned to nominate M. Connoly as a candidate, but in the face of denials a new nomination took place, won by Archibald Campbell. With him, the Labor Party won the Chalmers constituency back in the 1935 election, but Campbell did not run in the 1938 election .

Campbell served on the Legislative Council from 1939 to 1946 and from 1947 to 1950 when the House of Lords was abolished.
