Archive portal Europe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Archives Portal Europe ( Archives Portal Europe ) is a research platform with archival descriptive information from the participating European countries as well as general information about other archives from Europe .

history

The structures for the archive portal were set up within the APEnet project (2009–2012) funded by the European Commission and, since March 2012, expanded in its successor, the APEx project. The Archives Portal Europe Foundation in The Hague, established in 2015, is responsible for the operation and further development of the portal. This foundation was established for this purpose only. The portal currently contains information on archives from 33 countries.

APEx project

In the APEx project, the archives of Europe worked together for broader and deeper access to their records. It continued the work results of the APEnet project, within the framework of which the national archives from 19 countries set up the archive portal Europe together with Europeana from 2009 to 2012.
