Arda Fındıkoğlu (born July 9, 1983 in Ankara ) is a Turkish backgammon player and official.

Life

Arda Fındıkoğlu grew up as the only child of his parents in Ankara, where he attended primary and secondary school. After finishing school he went to Istanbul in 1996 to study at the Technical University . He has continued to live there ever since. He is a civil engineer by profession, specializing in earthquake safety.

In addition, he is a nationally and internationally successful backgammon player who has already won more than one hundred national and international titles, as well as being the manager and organizer of backgammon tournaments, mainly in Turkey and Northern Cyprus .

At the age of four he learned the game of tavla from his father . As a student he got to know modern backgammon better and was fascinated by the depth and complexity of this game.

Since there were no clubs in Turkey or Istanbul at that time where you could play modern backgammon, he had few opportunities to train and improve his skills in this game. After he was able to prevail against two hundred other participants in an online competition in 1999 and won it, Marco Fornasir , the Secretary General of the Worldwide Backgammon Federation (WBF), got in touch with him some time later and offered him the funds so that Fındıkoğlu could found its first backgammon club in Turkey. After some hesitation, he organized his first tournament in 2001, but only a few players took part. He continued to organize tournaments and always used the WBG logo for advertising purposes; In the course of time the number of participants increased and he called his organization office WBF-Turkey . In addition to participating in tournaments, Fındıkoğlu now works on the organization of backgammon tournaments.

In 2016, there were around three thousand players from 38 cities in Turkey, as well as a Turkish national league that is played in eight cities.
