Areamobile.de is a German-language mobile communications specialist magazine on the Internet. It reaches 1.4 million readers (visits) per month and has almost 185,000 pages in the Google search index . According to AGOF , Areamobile.de has a net reach of 480,000 unique users and is thus among the top 500 largest websites in Germany .

The content of Areamobile.de is divided into editorial topics like news and test reports, into database content like data sheets and into community contributions and reader reviews. The focus of the entire content orientation is the reporting on mobile radio topics, with the focus on high-end devices such as smartphones , applications and mobile operating systems . The archive comprises more than 12,000 of its own news articles that have shed light on the German and international mobile communications market since 2002. In addition, around 340 cell phones and smartphones were tested. The mobile phone database contains around 2,500 data sheets on current and older models that came onto the German market.

As part of a cooperation with IDG Verlag and Deutsche Telekom , the news articles are also published on third-party sites such as pcwelt.de and other technology magazines. The magazine does not see itself as a news aggregator, but does its own research. In spring 2010, for example, Areamobile.de was one of the first magazines worldwide to report on the WePad from the Berlin company Neofonie , whose tablet PC was developed as a competitor to the Apple iPad and caused a sensation.

With the relaunch of Areamobile.de in September 2009, the formerly independent forum Handykult.de was integrated into the website. The comments in the messages are linked to the forum. Areamobile.de relies on the Informer principle for page navigation. All content on a product, for example news, test reports, picture galleries or readers' opinions, is summarized in a fixed link box at the top of the page.

history

Areamobile.de is a product of AreaDigital AG based in Berlin . The website was founded in 2002 as one of the first German websites with a focus on mobile communications by the four partners Dyrk Draenkow, Stefan Adolf, Bastian Albert and Frank Rennebarth and operated by IQ-Studio Media Verlag until 2006. The publisher's aim was to run a free online publication that informs its readers about events in the mobile communications market.

The growth of Areamobile.de led to the establishment of AreaMobile AG in the spring of 2006. With the acquisition of further online magazines such as the games portal AreaGames.de, formerly AreaXbox, and the video portal vitivi.de, the company name was changed from AreaMobile AG to AreaDigital AG in May 2008. As a result of the expansion, AreaDigital AG employed almost 50 people in its offices in Berlin-Mitte in 2008.

André Kolbinger was the main shareholder and chairman of the supervisory board of AreaDigital AG until July 1, 2016. In May 2010 it was announced that he was taking over the stakes in wallstreet: online AG from Axel Springer AG . Wallstreet: online AG operates the finance community wallstreet-online.de .

On July 1, 2016, today's Computec Media took over Areamobile.de.
