Aref Hamza
Aref Hamza , Arabic عارف حمزة, DMG ʿĀrif Ḥamza (born May 6, 1974 in al-Hasakah ), is a Syrian poet who lives in exile in Germany.
Life
Aref Hamza belongs to the Kurdish population group in Syria. He studied law in Aleppo and works as a lawyer and journalist. Hamza had to flee the country because of the civil war in Syria and lives in exile in Germany in Buchholz in the Nordheide .
Hamza has published several volumes of poetry and in 2004 received the Mohammed al-Maghout Prize for Poetry. Individual poems have been translated into European languages.
