Ari Friðbjörn Guðmundsson (born September 14, 1927 in Reykjavík ; † September 6, 2003 ibid) was an Icelandic swimmer and ski jumper .

Career

Ari Friðbjörn started as a member of the Icelandic swimming team at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London . Over 100 meters and 400 meters freestyle he was eliminated in the first round.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 , he started as a ski jumper. With two jumps on 60 and 59 meters he landed on the 35th place from the normal hill.

Ari Friðbjörn worked at Landsbanki until retirement . He died shortly before his 76th birthday, leaving behind his wife and four children.
