Ariake (Tokyo)
Ariake ( Japanese. 有 明 ) is a district of the district Kōtō (Kōtō-ku) of the eastern Japanese prefecture Tokyo (Tōkyō-to) . It is located in southern Tokyo on virgin land on Tokyo Bay from the 20th century and, along with Odaiba and Aomi, is part of Tōkyō rinkai fuku-toshin ( 東京 臨海 副 都 心 about "coastal sub-center of Tokyo"). Ariake is subdivided into four chôme (numbered district sections), in which, according to the 2015 census, a total of 8871 inhabitants lived on 3.49 km². The postcode of Ariake is 135-0063.
In Ariake there are among other things the event center Tōkyō kokusai tenjijō ("International Exhibition Hall Tokyo"), better known by the nickname Tokyo Big Sight , the tennis park Ariake Tennis no Mori Kōen with the Ariake Coliseum and the construction sites of two new competition venues for the 2020 Summer Olympics : the Ariake Arena and the Ariake taisō-kyōgijō ( 有 明 体操 競技場 , "Ariake gymnasium", English Ariake Gymnastics Center ). Ariake 4 in the south forms its own island, on which mainly docks and warehouses are located.
