Arista Networks is an American network technology manufacturer. It was founded in 2004 by Andreas von Bechtolsheim and David Cheriton and was listed on the NYSE in 2014 . The company is headquartered in Santa Clara , Silicon Valley, south of San Francisco . Further development offices are located in Nashua, New Hampshire , Bangalore , Dublin and Vancouver, Canada .

Arista manufactures Layer 3 switches , a combination of routers and switches, and operates in the SDN . All products are supplied with the in-house Linux -based EOS operating system. One of the competing companies is the (much larger) Cisco Systems . Areas of application for the manufactured components are high-performance computers in data centers operated by cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services , Microsoft Azure and Google , as well as smaller providers or research institutions.

Arista was founded with around $ 100 million from the fortunes of Andreas von Bechtolsheim and David Cheriton.
