Aristophon (comedy poet)
Aristophon ( Greek Ἀριστοφῶν Aristophṓn ) was a Greek comedy poet from Athens . He was around the middle of the 4th century BC. Active and belongs to the "middle" comedy. His first victory in the Lenaen competition was probably in the 350s.
Eight comedies by Aristophon are known by title: Plato (about the famous philosopher Plato ), Pythagoristes (about a Pythagorean ), Peirithous , Kallonides , Philonides , Babias (a slave), The Doctor and The Twins . Only 15 fragments, some of them extensive, have come down to us, nine of them from Athenaios .
