The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is located near Saguaro National Park near Tucson . The combination of a zoo , a museum and a botanical garden was founded in 1952 and has more than half a million visitors a year.

The focus of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is on the fauna and flora of the Sonoran Desert . It is home to around 1300 plant species and more than 300 different desert animals that can be observed in their natural habitat. The museum did pioneering work in the appropriate housing of the animals.
