The company Arjowiggins is one of the world's leading paper manufacturer based in Issy-les-Moulineaux . It has 28 plants in Europe with around 8,000 employees. From 1888 it produced Conqueror brand paper .

In Germany, Arjowiggins took over Gebrüder Buhl Papierfabriken GmbH & Co. KG in Ettlingen in 1991 . The plant in Dettingen an der Erms , which was taken over by this company in 1981, was founded in 1861 by Pastor Gustav Werner to provide work for disabled and socially disadvantaged people. It is now the headquarters of the German subsidiary.

In 2001 the European Commission fined Arjowiggins € 184.3 million for anti- competitive agreements on carbonless paper products .

In 2008 the plant in Dettingen / Erms had to pay around 20 million euros because of cartel formation .

In January 2019, the French paper group Sequana Capital filed for insolvency for its subsidiary Arjowiggins and filed for insolvency for three French paper mills of Arjowiggins.
