Eric Salzman

Eric Salzman (born September 8, 1933 in New York City - † November 13, 2017 ) was an American composer .

Salzman studied at Columbia University with Otto Luening , Vladimir Ussachevski , Jack Hamilton Beeson and William Mitchell and at Princeton University with Roger Sessions and Milton Babbitt . He also took courses with Oliver Strunk , Arthur Mendel and Nino Pirrotta . In 1957 he went to Rome to study with Goffredo Petrassi and was then a student of Karlheinz Stockhausen in Darmstadt . Until 1966 he was a music critic in New York, then teacher and director of the Hunter College concerts . He founded the American Music Theater Festival , as its artistic director he served. He practiced teaching activities at Queens College of the City University of New York (1966-1968) and from 1982 at the New York University from.

In addition to multimedia pieces, Salzman mainly created works for electronic instruments.
