From the 16th century onwards, cavalry units who fought with arquebuses were referred to as arquebusier riders , or arquebusiers for short .

history

In the middle of the 16th century the arquebus was introduced by the Duke of Alba in the Netherlands as a rider's weapon from 1 to 1.3 m in length, which fired bullets of about 29 g after it was given a wheel lock and, to prevent it from getting lost, on the on the left side with a rod with a ring into which a spring hook ( snap hook ) was hooked.
