Armée de Mayence
The Armée de Mayence ( German : Army of Mainz ) was a revolutionary army of the First French Republic established in 1797 . She took part in the fighting against coalition forces in Europe.
Creation and further development
The Armée de Mayence was formed by an ordinance of December 9, 1797 (19 frimaire to VI), which was implemented on December 14 and 16. This regulation divided the Armée d'Allemagne into the Armée de Mayence and the Armée du Rhin (Rhine Army). Further restructuring followed later. Another decree of February 3, 1799 (15 pluviôse an VII), implemented between February 4 and 9, created a new army. This was trained with the Army d'Observation in addition to the Armée de Mayence. By decree of March 28, 1799, the faction of the Armée d'Observation remained in the Armée de Mayence after the Armée du Danube had been established .
