Skiffs at the Armada Cup 2004

The Armadacup was a Swiss rowing regatta in which skiffs were rowed over a distance of nine kilometers. The Armadacup was carried out by the regatta club Bern on the Wohlensee in front of the gates of the Rowing Club Bern . All (maximum 250) participants in the skiff race start at the same time, which is unusual for this type of race. The winners of the Armada Cup were honored immediately after the race.

In the past there was also a dragon boat race, which was also the last race of the “Swiss Dragonboat Cup”.

history

The Armada Cup was held for the first time in the fall of 1980. The winner was Philippe Monteil. Marc Furrer, with his team from the Rowing Club Bern ( Stephan Wehrli , Anatole Du Fresne and Thomas von Burg) was the initiator and founder of this event. On October 27, 2018, the last "Armada Cup" took place on the Wohlensee. It has been replaced by a new format. On October 26, 2019, the “Bern Boat Race” took place for the first time. Instead of a mass start, the "Bern Boat Race" relies on staggering the participants.
