Armand Renaud

Armand Renaud (born July 29, 1836 in Versailles , Yvelines department , † October 15, 1895 in Paris ) was a French poet .

Renaud earned his living as an administrative clerk at the Paris City Hall . There he was briefly a colleague of Léon Valade . Renaud was later transferred to the prefecture of the Seine department and the high point of his career was his appointment as "Inspecteur des Beaux-Arts".

When he was friends with the writer Stéphane Mallarmé , Renaud came into contact with the Parnassians . Today Renaud is also part of this literary association.

reception

The entire literary work of Renaud reveals the influence of classical Persian and Japanese poetry. Many of his poems were set to music by the composer Camille Saint-Saëns in keeping with the zeitgeist .
