Daley Blind (born March 9, 1990 in Amsterdam , Netherlands ) is a Dutch football player . He is under contract with Ajax Amsterdam and is active for the Dutch national team . His father is former Dutch international Danny Blind .

Career

Blind played at AFC Amsterdam until 1998, before joining the Ajax Amsterdam Football Academy . There he went through the youth teams until he moved into the club's professional squad in summer 2008. In December of the same year, the young player received his first professional contract with the Amsterdam capital club. Shortly before, on December 7, 2008, Blind made his league debut in the away game against FC Volendam and was able to convince. By the end of 2009 he was used in a total of five league games and one game in the UEFA Cup . His current contract runs until the summer of 2016. Since he had no match practice in the first team at Ajax in the 2009/10 season, he was loaned to the league rivals FC Groningen for the second half of the season. Under coach Martin Jol , Blind did not initially come into play in the 2010/11 season . Only after the coach change to Frank de Boer he was able to book more missions in the second half; he initially replaced Vurnon Anita , who had advanced into midfield, as the left defender .

On September 1, 2014 Blind moved to the Premier League for Manchester United . He signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2018 with an option for a further year and cost 14 million pounds sterling (approx. 17.7 million euros) transfer fee. With the club, Blind always placed in the top third of the table and also won the UEFA Europa League in 2017 after defeating his former club Ajax Amsterdam 2-0 in the final.

For the 2018/19 season , Blind returned to Ajax Amsterdam for a transfer fee of 16 million euros, which can be increased to 20.5 million euros through bonus payments. He signed a contract running until June 30, 2022.

National team

Blinded through various junior national teams in the Netherlands. With the U17, the midfielder took part in the U-17 European Championship 2007 in Belgium . In three games he scored two goals. On February 6, 2013, he made his debut in a friendly against Italy in the " Elftal ". In 2014 he was part of the senior squad for the 2014 World Cup , with which he reached third place. He was in the starting line-up in all Elftal games. Blind scored a goal in the "small final" against hosts Brazil (final score 3: 0).
