Kik Pierie (born July 20, 2000 in Boston , Massachusetts , United States ) is a Dutch football player who is used as a defender in central defense . He is under contract with Ajax Amsterdam .
childhood
Pierie was born in Boston , Massachusetts, to a former Dutch national hockey player who worked as a surgeon at Harvard University . A year after Kik's birth, the parents returned to the Netherlands with their sons and settled in Zeist before moving on to Leeuwarden when Kik Pierie was five years old. Pierie has both US and Dutch citizenship.
Career
society
Kik Pierie started playing football at LAC Frisia before moving to the SC Heerenveen youth academy . On May 17, 2017, he made his professional debut in the 3-1 play-off first leg to qualify for the UEFA Europa League against FC Utrecht . After a 2-1 defeat in the second leg, SC Heerenveen retired. Pierie made his debut in the Eredivisie on August 26, 2017 in a 2-1 away win on matchday three of the 2017/18 season against ADO Den Haag . This season he came to 31 missions and finished eighth with SC Heerenveen, which was synonymous with the renewed participation in the play-offs for participation in the qualification for the UEFA Europa League. As in the previous year, SC Heerenveen failed at FC Utrecht. Meanwhile, Pierie was voted one of the 60 best young players in the world by The Guardian newspaper . After 31 appearances and two goals in the 2019/20 season, he finished eleventh with SC Heerenveen.
For the 2019/20 season he moved to Ajax Amsterdam and signed a five-year contract. In the first six months he was used exclusively for the reserve team.
National team
Kik Pierie played at least one game each for the Dutch U15 national team and for the U16. With the Dutch U17 national team, he took part in the U17 European Championship in Croatia in 2017 and was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Germany. Pierie was used in all games. For this age group he completed 14 games. He has been playing for the Dutch U19 national team since 2017.
Since he has not yet played a competitive game for the Dutch senior team , Pierie is also eligible to play for the United States .
