Noussair Mazraoui ( Arabic نصير مزراوي, DMG Nuṣair Mazrāwī ; Born November 14, 1997 in Leiderdorp , the Netherlands ) is a Moroccan - Dutch football player . He is under contract with his youth club Ajax Amsterdam and plays for Morocco's national teams. He is mainly used on the right side in defensive midfield and defense.

Career

society

Mazraoui grew up in Alphen aan den Rijn in the province of South Holland and had played there from the age of four for AVV Alphen and later for the Alphense Boys , before moving to the Ajax Amsterdam youth academy in 2006 . For the second team Jong Ajax he played a total of 55 games in the Eerste Divisie in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons . In the 2017/18 season he became a champion with Jong Ajax.

Mazraoui had already signed a professional contract with Ajax at the beginning of November 2016; he has been active for the first team in the Eredivisie since February 2018 and was runner-up behind PSV Eindhoven at the end of the 2017/18 season . He became a regular player during the 2018/19 season. He qualified with Ajax for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League and was eventually eliminated in the semi-finals . Mazraoui made eleven appearances (two goals) in the entire competition (excluding qualifying rounds). Nationally he won the double from the Dutch championship and the KNVB-Beker with Ajax Amsterdam at the end of the season .

His contract runs until 2021.

National team

Mazraoui completed at least three appearances for the Moroccan U-20 selection. At the 2018 World Cup , he was a reservist in the extended squad of the Moroccan senior national team , but was never used. After the Dutch bond coach Ronald Koeman expressed his interest in Mazraoui after the World Cup, Mazraoui finally decided in favor of Morocco, citing the reason that he was never nominated for a Dutch selection and that he was already running for the Moroccan U20 team.

He made his debut for the Moroccan senior team on September 8, 2018 in a 3-0 win in the African Championship qualification against Malawi in Casablanca . At the 2019 African Championship finals in Egypt , Noussair Mazraoui was part of the Moroccan squad and reached the round of 16, in which they were eliminated by Benin. He was used in three games.
