Kjell Scherpen (born January 23, 2000 in Emmen ) is a Dutch football goalkeeper . He is under contract with Ajax Amsterdam and is the young national goalkeeper of the Netherlands.
Career
society
Scherpen came from VV Emmen and in 2011 switched to the joint youth academy of FC Emmen and SC Heerenveen , the Voetbalacademie Heerenveen / Emmen . In November 2017 he played for the first team of FC Emmen in the second Dutch league and at the end of the season he was promoted to the Eredivisie with the team . Towards the end of the preparations for the 2018/19 season , he was appointed goalkeeper. Scherpen was used in all 34 games and managed to stay in league with FC Emmen with 14th place.
For the 2019/20 season he moved to Ajax Amsterdam and signed a four-year contract. Since he had made derogatory comments about the club a few years earlier and announced that he would move to the South Holland rival Feyenoord Rotterdam , the commitment provoked fan protests; The club had Scherpen write “Ajax is the best club in the Netherlands” several times in a joke PR campaign as “detention” and publish the campaign as a video.

Scherpen has played four games for the Dutch U19 national team since the beginning of September 2018 .
