Donny van de Beek (born April 18, 1997 in Amersfoort , Netherlands ) is a Dutch football player who is under contract with Ajax Amsterdam .

Donny van de Beek grew up in Nijkerkerveen in the province of Gelderland and played for Veensche Boys as a child and teenager .

Ajax Amsterdam

In the D-youth he switched to the youth academy of Ajax Amsterdam . During the winter break of the 2014/15 season, van de Beek took part in the professional team's training camp in Qatar and signed a contract that ran until 2018, which he extended at the end of January 2015. Donny van de Beek played his first game in professional football when he lost 6-0 in the away game on January 25, 2015 in the Dutch second division against Sparta Rotterdam . At the end of the 2014/15 season, he was voted the Talent of the Future.

After taking part in the professional training camp in Austria in preparation for the season, Donny van de Beek played in a group match in the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League against Celtic Glasgow for the first time in a competitive match for the professional team. Three days later he completed the 2-0 away win against PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie . He scored his first goal for the professionals in a competitive match on December 10, 2015 in a 1-1 draw in the group stage of the Europa League against Molde FK . After the departure of Yaya Sanogo and the end of his career for John Heitinga , Donny van de Beek was finally taken over into the professional team. In the 2016/17 season he was a substitute under coach Peter Bosz , who had succeeded Frank de Boer in the summer of 2016 , and made ten appearances in the Europa League, including in the final against Manchester United (0-2). In the following season he fought for a regular place under the successor of Bosz who had migrated to Borussia Dortmund and scored eleven goals in 34 competitive games, but he missed qualifying for the UEFA competitions with Ajax Amsterdam after playing in the play-offs for UEFA Europe League 2017/18 against Rosenborg BK . During this season he was considered the successor to Davy Klaassen who had migrated to Everton . At the beginning of the 2018/19 season he lost his regular place, but won it back thanks to the Dutch bond coach Ronald Koeman . Ajax Amsterdam qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2014/15 season and, thanks to three goals from van de Beek, reached the semi-finals in which the Amsterdamers were eliminated by Tottenham Hotspur . Nationally, Ajax Amsterdam won the double from the Dutch championship and the KNVB-Beker.

National team

Van de Beek played for almost all of the Dutch youth national teams. With the U17 national team , he took part in the 2014 European Championship , in which the Netherlands only failed in the final to England ; he was used in all games. At the U-19 European Championship in 2015 , he was not part of the squad, but was used in some qualifying games. From 2016 to 2017 he played for the U20 and also for the U21 national team . On November 14, 2017 he made his debut in the senior national team , which won the international test match against the Romanian national team 3-0 in Bucharest .
