David Neres Campos (born March 3, 1997 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian national soccer player . He has been playing for Ajax Amsterdam since 2017 .

Career

Club career

Neres was born in São Paulo and started playing football at the age of ten in the youth of São Paulo FC . After participating with the club in the Copa Libertadores Sub-20 2016 , he was sidelined for months as a result of a shoulder injury in February 2016. In August 2016, Neres was appointed to the first team of São Paulo FC by coach Ricardo Gomes . His team debut and simultaneous debut in the Série A was Neres on October 17, 2016 in the 2-1 victory over Fluminense , where he came on for Robson in the 55th minute . On October 22nd, Neres scored his first goal in a 2-0 win over Ponte Preta .

At the end of January 2017, David Neres was signed by Ajax Amsterdam for a transfer fee of 12 million euros, making it the second most expensive transfer in the club's history. Neres was awarded a five-year contract until 2021.

National team

Neres played nine games for the Brazilian U20 national team in 2017 .

At the beginning of March 2019, Neres was appointed for the first time by national coach Tite in the A-selection for the friendly games against Panama and the Czech Republic at the end of March . In the game against the Czech Republic on March 26, 2019, Neres received his first appearance for the senior squad. In the game he was substituted on for Richarlison in the 63rd minute . Neres was nominated in May 2019 by national coach Tite in the squad for the Copa América 2019 in his own country. In the course of a preparatory game against the selection of Honduras, he scored his first goal for the national team in the 56th minute with the goal to make it 5-0. Neres won the tournament with the team. He was in the starting line-up in the first two group matches (no goal). In the remaining four games he was without a bet on the reserve bench.
