Origin and history

Napoleon's armies brought the Briard Type ancestor to Egypt, where it mixed with local dogs. The name is derived from the city of Armant in northern Egypt. Today, due to the chaos of war in the 20th century, it is not certain that this type still exists; Travelers report that they still met him, albeit in a wide variety.

It is used both as a driving dog and as a guard dog . Because of their protective behavior, these dogs are sometimes also called Sabe , lion, in Arabic .
