The Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport (ASIPCS) ( Armenian Հայաստանի ֆիզիկական կուլտուրայի և սպորտի պետական ​​ինստիտուտ ; English Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport ) is a state institute for sports science, sports education and related subjects in Yerevan , the capital of Armenia .

history

The institute was founded on July 21, 1945. Hajk Parsadanjan became the first rector, followed by Aghasi Tschartschoghljan, Loris Kalaschjan, Hratsch Topoljan, Robert Galstjan and after 1998 Wahram Arakeljan. Davit Chitarjan has been the rector of the institute since September 2, 2019.

Several students and alumni of the Institute have won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Olympic Games or won in chess the World Team Championships and Chess Olympiads .

As of 2019, the institute has the following faculties and teaching departments:

  • Faculty of Sports Science and Health Technologies
  • Faculty of Sports Education and Management
  • Distance learning department
