from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Armin Meier (* 1943 ; † May 31, 1978 in Munich ) was a German actor .

Life

While working as a bar waiter in the Munich homosexual and artist restaurant Deutsche Eiche , he met Rainer Werner Fassbinder , who was a regular there, in 1974 , and who dedicated the film Faustrecht der Freiheit to him. Meier became Fassbinder's lover and took part as an actor in some of his works. In the film Germany in Autumn he played himself at Fassbinder's side in dealing with the political events in September and October 1977 (see also German Autumn ).

Because of the love affair that Fassbinder ended in 1978, Meier committed suicide with an overdose of sleeping pills. For Fassbinder, the film In a Year with 13 Moons, made in the same year, was an opportunity to deal with this personal catastrophe.
