Armstrong World Industries (AWI) is a global manufacturer of floor coverings. The group's headquarters are in Lancaster, USA . The company, founded in 1860, had around 12,700 employees worldwide and sales of US $ 3.5 billion in 2007.

Under the DLW brand, Armstrong sells elastic and textile coverings such as linoleum , vinyl , tiles and needle punched coverings in Europe , which are primarily designed for commercial and commercial buildings. Armstrong specializes in floor coverings in healthcare and education, shop fitting, but also in residential construction and office buildings. Other products are ceiling systems and built-in cupboards.

The company's European activities are managed from Armstrong DLW GmbH in Bietigheim-Bissingen and, together with the various Armstrong plants in Europe and the DLW brand , are grouped under the umbrella brand Armstrong Floor Products Europe . Armstrong has its own customer service offices across Europe.

In December 2014 it was announced that Armstrong was withdrawing completely from the flooring business in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Africa. The two remaining German plants in Bietigheim-Bissingen and Delmenhorst (together formerly "DLW - Deutsche Linoleum Werke") were sold and now operate as Gerflor DLW GmbH .

In 2017, it was announced that Armstrong World Industries was also planning to sell its European ceiling division. The Knauf Group is said to be the buyer for the plants in England, France and Münster , Germany . The approval of the cartel authorities is still pending. Knauf had previously taken over a plant from AWI in Yelabuga, Russia .
