Arna (Umbria)

Arna (Greek Ἄρνα) was an ancient city in the Italian countryside of Umbria . It was located at today's Civitella d'Arna , a district east of Perugia , on a hill above the Tiber . Some archaeological remains have been found there. Inscriptions attest to the presence of seviri Augustales and a duumvirn and quaestor of the city. Arna is mentioned by the ancient writers Pliny , Silius Italicus and Ptolemy . The titular diocese of Arna of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to a diocese of the city .
