Johann Daniel Noltenius

Johann Daniel Noltenius (born May 2, 1779 in Bremen ; † March 8, 1852 in Bremen) was a lawyer , Bremen senator and Bremen mayor .

biography

Noltenius was the son of the merchant Johann Daniel Noltenius (1726–1791) and Gesche Catharina Noltenius, born in Bremen, who had lived in Bremen since 1753. Berkemeyer, the daughter of a brewery owner and sister of the wife of Mayor Johann Smidt . He was married to the pharmacist's daughter Caroline Rhode; both had three sons.

He completed the pedagogy and from 1797 the Illustre high school in Bremen . After high school he studied from 1798 jurisprudence at the University of Jena and the University of Göttingen . He obtained his doctorate in 1802. jur. He was then a lawyer in Bremen and in 1807 an actuary (clerk, recorder) at the Combing Court (Higher Court). From 1809 to 1839 he was councilor or senator in Bremen . During the French period in Bremen , he was justice of the peace in Neustadt from 1811 to 1813 . On April 4, 1839 he became mayor of Bremen and remained so until his death. In 1849 and 1852 he assumed the office of President of the Senate.
