Arnaud Vidal de Castelnaudari

Arnaud Vidal de Castelnaudari (* 13th / 14th century in Castelnaudary ; † 14th century) was a medieval, Occitan poet and troubadour of the 14th century from Castelnaudary.

Vidal published the novel in verse Guilhem de la Barra in 1318 . This novel was rediscovered in 1866 by the French philologist Paul Meyer and later published in modern French. Vidal was involved in the establishment of the civic group of poets of the Gai Saber , the cheerful science , in Toulouse in 1323 . With a poem in praise of the Virgin Mary, he won the very first medieval poetry competition of the Jocs Florals, initiated by this group of poets, in 1324 and received the Golden Violet for it .
