Arne Thomas

Arne Thomas (born April 7, 1975 in Giessen ) is a German chemist and has been a professor of inorganic chemistry in the functional materials department at the TU Berlin since 2009 .

Life

Thomas studied chemistry at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen , the Philipps University in Marburg and at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh . He did his doctorate with Professor Markus Antonietti at the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam . As an Alexander von Humboldt fellow, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara . In mid-2005 he returned to the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces as a group leader.

His main interest is the synthesis of highly porous functional materials. The aim is to adapt or adjust the chemical composition and structure of inorganic, organic and so-called inorganic-organic hybrid materials for each special application.
