Arno Cabisius

Arno Cabisius ( September 15, 1843 in Magdeburg - March 6, 1907 ibid) was a German opera singer ( baritone ), theater director and director .

Life

Cabisius came from a musical family and also received his first musical lessons from his father Julius Cabisius , later concert master in Bremen. Julius Stockhausen , who designated Cabisius for concert singing, took over his actual training .

But he was encouraged to use his beautiful appearance and the power of the organ for the stage and so he tried in 1867 at the city theater in Mainz. He liked it and decided to stay with the stage. Then he was hired at the city theater in Gdansk, afterwards he got involved in Poznan and Freiburg, and everywhere his beautiful baritone and his artistic routine aroused general recognition.

In 1873 he followed a call to the city theater in Stettin, where he was the darling of the public for three years. Then he appeared as "Hans Heiling", "Vampyr", "Templer", "Holländer", "Tell", "Don Juan" etc. on the stages in Lübeck, Danzig and Prague (inaugural role "Tell") until he In 1886, after a successful artistic wandering life, he took over the management of the Szczecin City Theater, where he last worked as a singer. In 1891 he was appointed head of the Magdeburg City Theater . There he seemed popular and did nothing to turn this stage into an excellent art institute. He was a member of the Magdeburg Freemason Lodge Ferdinand for happiness .

Cabisius had been married to Elisabeth Kreuzer (1845–1936), the daughter of the then famous singer Heinrich Kreuzer , since 1881 .
