Arnold Trowell

Arnold Thomas Wilberforce Trowell (born June 25, 1887 in Wellington , † November 25, 1966 in Hawkhurst ) was a New Zealand cellist, composer and music teacher.

Trowell studied cello and composition in Frankfurt and Brussels. From 1906 he lived in England as a composer, cello virtuoso and music teacher. He has taught at the Guildhall School of Music and the Royal College of Music , among others . During his career he gave several hundred concerts in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and made numerous recordings for the BBC . In addition to etudes and studies for teaching purposes, he composed, among other things, seven cello concertos and three cello sonatas, four symphonic poems and chamber music works, including several pieces for cello and piano.
