According to Herodotus , the Arodians paid tribute to the king of the Persians . They belonged to the 18th satrapy , together with the Matieni and Saspeiri. In another place he names Alarodii, Matieni, Sasieni and Kolchier together. Its source was probably Hecataeus of Miletus , perhaps via Artaphrenes, Satrap of Sardis . The Arodians are documented up to the time of Cyrus II (559-530 BC), Xenophon does not know them.
