Aroha Iceland is an island in the region Northland on the North Island of New Zealand . The island is owned and administered by the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust . The island is located in the Bay of Islands , 12 km northeast of Kerikeri and can be reached by car from the mainland via a causeway.
On the island, which is an important habitat of the northern subspecies of the striped kiwi ( Apteryx australis mantelli ), there is an information and tourism center, which also offers guided night hikes to observe kiwis.
