Arrondissements of Quebec

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Canadian city of Quebec is divided into six boroughs, so-called arrondissements . You are responsible for certain assigned tasks at the local level. Each arrondissement has its own district mayor and district council. The arrondissements, in turn, are further subdivided into 35 quarters for administrative purposes, whereby some of them do not have a name, but are only distinguished by their order number. Former arrondissements

From January 1, 2002 to October 31, 2009, the city had eight arrondissements: La Cité, Les Rivières, Sainte-Foy-Sillery, Charlesbourg, Beauport, Limoilou, La Haute-Saint-Charles and Laurentien. The arrondissements of La Cité and Limoilou were merged, while the arrondissement of Laurentien was dissolved and divided between Sainte-Foy-Sillery and La Haute-Saint-Charles.

The parishes of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures and L'Ancienne-Lorette , which also belonged to the city of Québec from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2005, were part of the Laurentien arrondissement.
