Arteries of the pelvic entrance of man

The iliolumbar artery ("iliac-lumbar-artery") is a blood vessel of the arterial circulation . It is the first branch of the internal pelvic artery ( internal iliac artery ).

The iliolumbar artery rises behind the psoas major muscle backwards to the iliac fossa ( iliac fossa ), where individual branches supply the iliacus muscle . Departures continue to provide the artery musculus psoas major and minor , the quadratus lumborum muscle , transverse abdominal muscle and a Ramus spinal the spinal canal between the fifth lumbar vertebrae and the sacrum .

The artery anastomoses with the deep circumflex ilium artery .
