The Arteveldehogeschool is a Dutch-speaking Catholic university in Ghent , the capital of the Belgian province of East Flanders .

location

The university's administrative headquarters are located at Hoogpoort 15 in Ghent. The university's facilities are spread across the city as Campus Kantienberg, Campus, Mariakerke, Campus Kattenberg, Campus Sint-Amandsberg .

history

The school, which is named after Jacob van Artevelde , was created on December 31, 2000 by amalgamating four Catholic universities with a total of 6,700 students in Ghent:

  • the Hogeschool voor Economisch en Grafisch Onderwijs (EGON)
  • the Katholieke Hogeschool voor Gezondheidszorg Oost-Vlaanderen (KaHoG)
  • the Katholieke Hogeschool voor Lerarenopleiding en Bedrijfsmanagement (KLBO)
  • the Sociale Hogeschool KVMW Gent

The number of students increased continuously in the following years, so that in 2010 over 11,000 students were enrolled. This makes it the largest Catholic university in Flanders today .

construction

The Arteveldehogeschool offers a total of 15 Bachelor courses and, in cooperation with the University of Gent, an additional three Master courses. Management training courses in many different areas (communication, marketing, logistics, international companies, finance and insurance, etc.) are offered up to the bachelor's degree. Furthermore, educational training for all levels of instruction, as well as occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, social work, but also journalism and graphic or digital media. The Master’s training in collaboration with the University of Ghent is limited to the three areas of physiotherapy (kinesitherapy), social work and care .

Memberships

Although it is Catholic, the Arteveldehogeschool does not belong to the cooperation association of the KU Leuven , but instead as the only Catholic university to the Associatie Universiteit Gent (AUGent).
