Arthur Robin

Arthur Robin (born February 5, 1927 in Guadeloupe ) is a bodybuilder and former Mister Universe .

Life

Arthur Robin started bodybuilding when he was 15. As weights he used stones, woods and boxes filled with cement. In 1939 he moved to Paris, where he found a job at Citroën and was able to train in a real gym for the first time. He entered his first competition at the age of 25, and his most important awards followed:

  • 1953/54 Mister Paris of the amateurs
  • 1956 Mister Universe of Amateurs
  • 1957 Mister Universe

Arthur Robin then ended his active sports career and traveled for a year with the Harlem Globetrotters and a self-invented power number through the USA. It was the beginning of his second career as "Black Hercules", and soon the most famous circus directors around the world were fighting for him: During his performances, he regularly bent irons with his bare hands. He gave the result away as a lucky charm. In 1968 he married Lilly Robin from Vorarlberg . He became the father of two children, Enrico and Betty, who are also well-known circus artists. Arthur Robin ended his career in 2003 at the age of 76. Today he lives in seclusion with his wife Lilly in northern Italy.

In 2016 Arthur Robin can be seen as himself in the movie Mister Universo by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel .
