Artillery side gun
The artillery side gun , also known as a side guard , is a weapon used by gunners . The side guns are a kind of saber that soldiers carried as a service weapon. In the course of time there were several types of edged weapons that were called side guns. Depending on the equipment of the troops, these were:
- Short sabers
- Fascine knife
- straight-edged tusks
- shortened pallet
Depending on the version, the side guns could or could not be attached to a gun . They were in use in the 18th and 19th centuries .
